Premature Aging – The Culprit is Air Pollution

Professional medical cosmetic procedures have soared as more people are exhibiting fine lines and wrinkles at an increasingly young age. City dwellers are at increased risk and a study in the May 2016 Journal of Investigative Dermatology has uncovered evidence that pollution from traffic-related sources is causing premature aging.

For the past 20-30 years, the primary focus on aging research has been the effects of UV rays, whether from natural or artificial sources, but air pollution has emerged as the most toxic and detrimental to the skin. Research has proven that microscopic particles in the air that are a by-product of traffic emissions increase the development of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots.

Pollutants from vehicles and other sources combine to form molecules known as free radicals that collect on the skin where they’re absorbed and they can be inhaled. The body produces its own antioxidant compound - glutathione - to fight free radicals, but if the molecules overwhelm the body’s ability to neutralize them oxidative stress occurs that damages cells and results in premature aging.*

The problem is particularly critical for city inhabitants and living in a rural area is only minimally better. Air pollution is disseminated by the wind into outlying areas, making it impossible to escape. Research that appeared in Frontiers in Environmental Science clearly demonstrate that repetitive and prolonged exposure to high levels of air pollutants found in major cities negatively impact skin.

Air pollution elicits an inflammatory response in the body that directly impacts the amount of collagen it produces. A lack of collagen results in dull, saggy and tired looking skin. Elasticity is impaired, lines and wrinkles appear, and dark spots or overall darkening of the skin can occur.*

The good news is that a diet rich in antioxidants is beneficial for fighting the effects of free radicals. Supplements with nutrients that support the production of glutathione may also prove effective for mitigating the effects of traffic-generated free radicals that lead to premature aging.*

RxQ Antioxidant Complex provides the key ingredients for glutathione production that the body can begin to use immediately. The proprietary formula combines decades of dedicated research utilizing the best science available into the aging process. Air pollution is inescapable. RxQ Antioxidant Complex is appropriate for men and women and may provide the means to fight back against pollution-based premature aging.*
